About OT North

Our Founder

Occupational Therapy Consulting was founded by Joy Vall in 2006 and she opened the first private sensory OT Gym North of 60 in 2018! Joy has been providing occupational therapy services to both children and adults in Yukon for 28 years in a wide variety of setting and has provided OT services in almost every community in the territory.

Paediatric Services

Paediatric services include assessment and treatment for Autism, ADHD, Developmental Coordination Disorder, FASD, Learning Disabilities, Sensory Processing Disorders, Attachment, Fine Motor, Self-care skills, Neurodevelopment disorders and more. This can include:

  1. Individualized assessment, during which the client/family and occupational therapist determine the child's goals.
  2. Customized intervention to improve the child’s ability to perform daily activities and reach their goals.
  3. An outcome evaluation to ensure that the goals are being met and/or make changes to the intervention plan.

Adult Services

Occupational therapy services for adults can include comprehensive evaluations of the client’s home and other environments (e.g., community, workplace, school), recommendations for adaptive equipment and training in its use, and guidance and education for family members and caregivers; incapability assessments for Guardianship; cognitive assessments, functional assessments; sensory interventions for mental health and cognitive injuries including anxiety and PTSD, and cost of future care evaluations, ergonomic and workplace assessments.

Where We Work

All therapists employed with Occupational Therapy Consulting work out of our Whitehorse office. At this location there are two OT sensory and treatment gyms, a feeding room, and an assessment room.  Therapists are can travel to the Yukon communities to provide in person 1:1 therapy service.

Other work locations can include client’s home, school, and other community locations. (Please note, working within the school setting requires permission and is only on a case-by-case basis.)

All therapists are registered  or soon to be registered with a Canadian College
